I didn't see the game but my honest opinion is this

Gate City is a good team, they're supposed to be a good team, they support their team like a good team, and yes even your refs know it.

Now then, some people may handcheck now and then, but Gate City does it pretty much from moment one. That is their style. It's known to be their style, and it's not called as much. When you have a line full of 7 footers who are known to be able to block shots, they tend to not get called for that many fouls during the blocks, even if they smack the crap out of someone because its what they do. If you have a smaller guy who manages to get in good positions to block shots, he'll get called more, even if they're clean.

Now you say when you go up state that the physical nature is allowed. That's 100% true. No doubt and that is why Gate City does it, well that and they tend to have more athletes who are able to do it than most teams. However, you can't say that they do it normally, so its ok, then call touch fouls on the other end of the floor. I mean I'm sorry to say, it isn't just about Gate City preparing for up the state and if that is why they get away with it, thats not fair to the other teams. I mean how are the other teams supposed to get used to playing that way or playing that style when they do it and get called for it and Gate City doesn't? Goes back to the consistency issue. You're right about something being a foul at 2:03 and not a foul with .37 seconds, thats not good, and not right either, although I can kind of see that, as that is when an official doesn't want to make themselves 'decide the game' and let the players decide it. What I can't see is a touch foul at one end and defense played with hands at the other. This isn't just about Gate City, but it does seem like they have the reputation, so therefore they are able to get by with it more. Reputations do make things be called or not called, if anybody is honest on here, we all know that.
